Problem
We want to a paying customer the opportunity to use the product for free for a bit.
Concrete example:
- Our customers hasn’t used the product for a longer time because of a move/vacation and we want to be nice and not charge them for a bunch of idle time to further the relationship (early stage customer)
Solution
Give the user a free trial that ends on the day you want to charge them again

Log into the Stripe dashboard
Locate the customer in Stripe customers
Locate and press the user subscription you want to change
Press update subscription

Add Free Trial days that end on the new billing date

Make sure that the invoice setting for this customer is set to email

Press update subscription in the top right corner

Locate the invoice that was created when the trial was created

Turn off automatic collection for the invoice to avoid collecting it

Make sure automatic collection is turned off

If you change the invoice settings for this customer in the previous step set it back to auto charge

Check that the user has a trial until the day you want to charge them next
